About Dame Vera Lynn Children's Charity
Around one baby in every 400 is born with Cerebral Palsy. Dame Vera Lynn Children's Charity was established in 2001, and since then, we have helped over 1000 families with very young children who have cerebral palsy and other motor impairments receive vital early intervention and support they need. This gives these children the best possible start to living as independently as they can.
Dame Vera Lynn had a passionate interest in helping children with Cerebral Palsy and her family are committed to continuing their support of the charity she founded. These children and their families are often isolated or over-looked. Families can struggle to find a diagnosis for their children and then do not know how to access the help their child needs. Dame Vera Lynn Children's Charity offers a range of services including paediatric physiotherapy, conductive education, music therapy, speech and language therapy, home play, parent support, Rebound therapy and swimming sessions. All of these services are provided free of charge and make a life changing difference to the children and whole family. Working with around 100 children every week, from Sussex, Surrey, Kent and the surrounding counties. We rely very heavily on trust and foundations, as well as voluntary fundraising, this post is vital to enabling our services to continue.

We are small team, based in our inspiring Centre for children in part of Chailey Heritage Foundation School site, in North Chailey. The Fundraising team is an expanding team. We need to raise approaching £750,000 a year all of which comes from voluntary sources. Around half of the income comes from Trusts and Foundations. This post develops income and manages supporter engagement from all other sources. It's a demanding and exciting role. You will use your skills and experience to grow and manage: -
· Effective line management of the Fundraising team - creating a successful and motivated team, set team KPIs and ensure that all these targets are met.
· To devise and implement funding strategies to achieve the fundraising targets through existing and new donors.
· To oversee the fundraising team,
· Focusing specifically on corporate income
· To develop both local and national knowledge of the Charity and the work that it does, particularly through social media channels.
This is a broad and diverse portfolio so you need to be really focused, organised and a great communicator with a wide range of people including the families. You will be resourceful, with a talent for enrolling others to help and support you. You will need to be someone who relishes a challenge and wants a varied, busy career.
Key Accountabilities
1. To lead the implementation of the fundraising and business development strategy for the Charity
2. Take a focussed and strategic approach to identify new business prospects and lead on delivering high quality, creative and commercially relevant presentations and proposals for prospective partners
3. Engaging the Chief Executive Officer, Chairman and Board of Trustees in cultivating, soliciting and stewarding new corporate partners
4. To act as deputy to the Chief Executive Officer during their absence.
5. To contribute to the development and implementation of the longer-term fundraising strategy for the Charity to meet the goals and objectives as defined and agreed by the Board of Trustees
6. To build local and national knowledge of the Charity and help strengthen the "brand"
7. To create reports for and present (when appropriate) board meetings
8. To regularly attend business networking events throughout the region
9. Act as a positive representative for the DVLCC, engaging our key audiences with our organisational aims and forging profitable and long-term fundraising relationships
10. Responsible for producing monthly reporting and contributing to the overall fundraising strategy, including ROI reviews of all fundraising activities to ensure the appropriate use of the Charity's resources.
11. To build the corporate support received by the Charity
12. To review and develop the appropriate technology CRM tools to help better manage prospects, donors, contacts, etc.
13. To manage ongoing communication programmes with prospects, donors and others to maintain and build awareness
14. To work with the Fundraising team to ensure effective communication with all supporters.
15. Line manager responsibility of the fundraising team, meeting regularly to ensure that all targets are being met. Carry out regular 1-2-1 meeting as well as 6 monthly progress reviews.

Pay: £42,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
