Overview
We are looking for a part‑time general practitioner to provide primary care services across two community hospitals in Shaftesbury and Sherborne. The role is based in the rehabilitation wards, caring for patients of all ages who have stepped down from acute hospitals following illness, injury, surgery or deconditioning.
Responsibilities
* Provide medical care to ward patients in collaboration with the responsible clinician, multidisciplinary advanced clinician, advanced practitioner and nursing team.
* Support the supervision of the clinical work of the advanced practitioner and develop a mutually supportive clinical relationship.
* Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team in the planning and provision of care, investigations, treatment and discharge planning.
* Participate in ward rounds, conduct timely clinical reviews and keep up to date and accurate clinical records.
* Implement appropriate treatment plans, including assessment of treatment escalation plans and resuscitation status where appropriate.
* Carry out the daily tasks outlined in the medical diary and work with the ward nursing team.
* Participate in the medical rota and may be required to work across both sites to support continuity and safe staffing.
