Product manager

Offer description

Why Join Us?

At Dr Frost Learning, a mission-driven education charity, we believe that every student deserves the opportunity to excel in mathematics, regardless of background. As we scale, we are seeking a hands-on Product Manager with strong delivery discipline to take ownership of our product execution. You will work closely with the CEO and CTO to translate strategy into a clear, prioritised roadmap and ensure consistent, high-quality delivery working with a small dedicated engineering team.

This role requires someone who is comfortable at translating strategy into operational deliverables, introducing structure where needed, and driving work through to completion in a lean, fast-moving environment. An implementation orientated product manager providing a pivotal role in the company to provide the bridge between pedagogy, user needs and technical development, designing for the complex education ecosystem.

About the Charity

Dr Frost Maths is an online platform supporting the teaching and learning of mathematics from KS2 to A level. It is used by tens of thousands of teachers and hundreds of thousands of students, both in schools and independently and our paid subscription base is set to grow to over 2,000 schools. We have strong brand recognition which combined with our charitable status differentiates us from our competitors.

As we enter our fourth year as a charity, our priorities are to deepen the engagement with our platform and our offering in Maths so as to widen our impact for teachers and students particularly in schools with high levels of social deprivation. This will enable growth in our subscription base so as to migrate from a reliance on philanthropic funding to a full subscription model.

Reporting to: CEO

Direct Reports: UX Designer

Key Stakeholders: CTO, Founder (Chief Mathematician), Head of Content, Head of Customer Support

Key Responsibilities

We are looking for a hands-on, delivery-focused Product Manager to take ownership of translating strategy into clear, executable work for engineering teams.

You will work closely with the CEO and CTO to define priorities and ensure product development is delivered in a structured and predictable way.

This role sits at the centre of the organisation, connecting educational goals, sales and marketing requirements, user needs, and engineering delivery, with a strong emphasis on driving work through to completion. Understanding the competitor environment and DFM’s position within it so as to build on the platform’s USP and to focus on those improvements which will enable growth in the subscription base. Understanding the educational ecosystem and taking the sales cycle into account when planning product development.

You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective product development processes, ensuring a small engineering team can operate with clear priorities, well-defined requirements, and minimal ambiguity.

Success in this role depends on introducing and maintaining clear, consistent processes that ensure product decisions are defined, prioritised, and delivered effectively.

Strategic Platform Direction & Prioritisation

* Understand the competitor environment and DFM’s position within it so as to build on the platform’s USP and to focus on those improvements which will enable growth in the subscription base.

Platform Delivery & Execution

* Run an Agile process with clear ceremonies and backlog management
* Use modern tools such as Jira for tracking and Confluence for documentation
* Write clear documentation and acceptance criteria
* Ensure full visibility of progress, priorities, and blockers across CEO, CTO, and team
* Drive work through to completion with clear ownership and timelines
* Work with engineering to maintain testing standards and reliable releases

Candidates should be comfortable working within established delivery frameworks rather than introducing entirely new methodologies.

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

* Act as the link between CEO, CTO, and engineering, ensuring alignment
* Translate business goals into realistic delivery plans
* Bring structure, clarity, and accountability to how work is delivered
* Establish strong development processes to improve speed and quality

* Customer-focused, with a track record of solving real user problems
* Experience scaling early-stage or growth-stage products

* Awareness of GDPR and data protection considerations
* A passion for education and alignment with the mission of improving access to quality maths education

Experience

* 5+ years in Product Management, with a strong focus on hands-on delivery and execution
* Proven experience running Agile development in small engineering teams
* Demonstrable ability to take products from idea to delivery and release in a structured way
* Experience working closely with engineers, writing clear executable requirements
* Experience working in early-stage or resource-constrained environments

What we Offer

* £70,000+, with generous pension and salary sacrifice.
* 25 days holiday, plus bank holidays
