Consultant Clinical Psychologist – West Yorkshire Assessment & Treatment Unit
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the leadership triumvirate for Assessment and Treatment Services across West Yorkshire and Barnsley, delivering specialist inpatient care for people with learning disabilities. This role is offered at 0.8 WTE and will work in partnership with Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust, South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, and Leeds and York Partnership Foundation Trust.
The role of non‑medical clinical lead includes governance responsibilities for psychological practitioners, leadership within the multidisciplinary team, and strategic decision‑making across the service.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide specialist evidence‑based psychological therapies and make autonomous clinical decisions regarding practice.
* Deliver clinical leadership through supervision, consultation and specialist advice on psychological therapies and psychological aspects of care.
* Lead service and policy development, including specialist teaching, and advise on psychological therapies across the West Yorkshire Assessment & Treatment Unit (WY ATU) service.
* Take lead responsibility for the development, implementation and monitoring of NICE‑compliant psychological interventions.
* Ensure clinical effectiveness through audit, service evaluation, research and quality improvement.
* Act as an Approved Clinician or work towards Approved Clinician status.
* Support clinical engagement, maintain governance and oversight, and report to the WY ATU Strategic Partnership Group.
* Lead the non‑medical workforce in shaping the strategic direction of ATU & community Learning Disability services across West Yorkshire.
