Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Sous Chef to join our culinary team in York, United Kingdom. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will work closely with the Head Chef to ensure the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and customer satisfaction.

8. Assist the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations, including menu planning, food preparation, and quality control
9. Coordinate and supervise kitchen staff to ensure efficient and timely food production
10. Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop new menu items and seasonal specials
11. Maintain high standards of food hygiene and safety in compliance with relevant regulations
12. Oversee inventory management, including ordering supplies and minimizing waste
13. Train and mentor junior kitchen staff to enhance their culinary skills and knowledge
14. Ensure consistent food quality and presentation across all dishes
15. Participate in cost control measures and budget management
16. Assist in managing special events and banquet services
17. Step in for the Head Chef when necessary, overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations

Qualifications
18. Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role, preferably in a high-volume environment
19. Qualification in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, or related field preferred
20. Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a professional kitchen setting
21. Strong leadership and team management skills
22. Extensive knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and culinary techniques
23. Proficiency in menu planning, food cost control, and inventory management
24. Excellent organisational and time management skills
25. Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
26. Creative approach to food preparation and presentation
27. In-depth understanding of food safety regulations and hygiene standards
28. Strong communication skills and fluency in English
29. Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays
30. Passion for culinary excellence and commitment to customer satisfaction
