Overview
This role is an important store position requiring early starts. Uniform is provided for safety and warmth, including high-visibility vests, gloves, cosy hats, safety boots, and other required gear. You will prepare for deliveries, assist with unloading, and ensure stock is managed according to store procedures.
Responsibilities
* Push cages from the delivery truck to the stock rooms and unload stock.
* Check all stock for quantities, temperatures, and any damages.
* Unload stock and store it in the appropriate area: frozen, chilled, and dry stock in designated stock rooms.
* Follow First In, First Out (FIFO) stock rotation and restock any shortages on the shop floor.
* Break down empty cardboard boxes and place them in cages for recycling.
* Empty bins and compact rubbish using loading machines as required to fit into larger bins.
* Clean spillages outside the store and jet wash the yard as part of general area cleaning.
* Engage in safe manual handling; this role involves regular lifting and carrying.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Must be able to work early shifts and be prepared for hard work and physical duties.
* Uniform provided; you are expected to wear safety boots and appropriate PPE as required.
* Ability to perform stock checks accurately and follow FIFO procedures.
* Eligibility to work in the UK & Ireland with original documents (e.g., valid passport or valid UK/Ireland visa with supporting documents) as required by law.
Shifts, Pay, and Benefits
Premium shifts are available; overnight hours (midnight to 5am) may carry additional pay. Most hourly-paid employees earn above the national minimum wage. Benefits include holiday and sick pay, and employee discounts across a large network of retailers.
