Overview
GPSI in Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, based at The James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough. The post is intended for a generalist who will be based at the James Cook University Hospital and may include outreach sessions at the key peripheral sites. Applicants should possess full GMC registration, and be able to demonstrate strong competencies in routine ENT outpatient activity with a special interest in balance. The successful candidate will be appointed under the current terms and conditions of service for NHS Consultants.
Main duties of the job
This post provides an opportunity to join the existing team of 10 ENT Consultants while delivering a sub-specialist interest in balance. The successful candidate will link into a progressive multi-professional team at James Cook which provides comprehensive ENT services to the population of Teesside, South Durham and North Yorkshire. The department comprises a fully established subspecialised Otorhinolaryngology service including Rhinology (with anterior skull base surgery), Otology (with lateral skull base surgery), Head and Neck surgery, the sub-regional Head and Neck oncology centre and Paediatric ENT. The department also hosts the North East Cochlear Implant service and other specialist services including adult and paediatric voice, airway and swallow, balance disorders, tertiary audiology and a head & neck dystonia service with botulinum toxin treatment. A paediatric surgical ward, level 2b paediatric critical care unit, dedicated paediatric emergency department and decisions unit, medical paediatric ward and a large neonatal unit are available.
