Purpose of Role

The Interim Head of Data & DevOps will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Grosvenor’s technology landscape, leading the development and operation of our software delivery and data platforms. This role is central to embedding modern DataOps, DevOps, and product-centric ways of working across Group Technology and the wider business, enabling us to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable digital solutions that enable business strategy.

You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing platforms and processes that support application development, data engineering, analytics, and AI—predominantly within the Microsoft ecosystem. By driving the execution of our data strategy and overseeing the delivery of digital solutions, you will ensure that technology remains a key enabler of Grosvenor’s ambitions through strategic insights.

As a hands-on leader, you will manage a core team in London and oversee offshore delivery partners, setting technical direction and ensuring excellence in execution. You will own the technical strategy and roadmap for data and software platforms, fostering best practices and continuous improvement in systems, workflows, and delivery processes. This includes active involvement in architecture, delivery, and operations when required.

The role is responsible for defining and delivering the technical strategy and roadmap across data and DevOps, fostering strong supplier relationships, and creating an environment that supports continuous integration, automated testing, and streamlined release management.

Success will require a strategic mindset, a passion for technology, and a commitment to continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will combine the ability to clearly and proactively communicate with senior stakeholders on the value being unlocked from emerging technologies. They will have strong technical acumen and an empathetic, collaborative leadership to inspire teams and build capability.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide leadership to ensure high-performing teams in DevOps, engineering, and data analytics—building capability, fostering innovation, and inspiring a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.

2. Partner with senior stakeholders to define and deliver the engineering roadmap, translating emerging technologies into measurable business value.

3. Manage strategic suppliers and offshore partners, ensuring quality, accountability, and consistency in delivery.

4. Contribute as a senior leader to Group Technology’s overall strategy, helping to shape priorities, raise professional standards, and create a high-performing, inclusive workplace.

5. Set and lead the architectural vision for data, DevOps, and AI platforms, ensuring alignment with Grosvenor’s strategic priorities and long-term business objectives.

6. Shape and execute the enterprise data strategy, embedding governance, quality, compliance, and secure data practices that underpin reliable and trusted insights.

7. Design and deliver scalable, secure, and resilient platforms and data products, enabling advanced analytics, AI, and data-driven decision-making across the organisation.

8. Champion modern engineering practices, embedding DevOps, DataOps, DevSecOps, and automation to accelerate delivery while maintaining security and compliance.

9. Ensure operational excellence by driving continuous improvement in the availability, performance, and security of applications and platforms.

10. Lead cultural and organisational change, driving the transition to product-centric ways of working and cultivating an intelligent data culture.

Key Requirements

11. Technical attributes

Extensive leadership experience – with a proven track record in architecture, engineering leadership, and platform delivery.

Proven leadership of geographically dispersed teams, including offshore partners, and building high-performing cultures.

Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and align technology with business priorities.

Experience managing strategic suppliers and vendors to ensure quality and value in service delivery.

Deep experience in system and data architecture, secure design principles, and modern engineering practices (DevOps, DataOps, DevSecOps).

Deep technical knowledge of Azure services, Kubernetes, Azure DevOps/GitHub Enterprise, and Microsoft’s data ecosystem (Fabric, Power BI, Synapse, Databricks, Purview).

Experience designing platforms that support AI/ML and advanced analytics

Strong security-by-design mindset with experience in DevSecOps, Data SecOps, and regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR).

Background in observability and SRE practices, including monitoring, SLIs/SLOs, telemetry, and incident response.

Demonstrated ability to embed agile, DevOps, and product-centric ways of working that deliver measurable business value.

A focus on accurate program reporting and proactive management to ensure successful delivery of initiatives.
