Industrial Decarbonisation and Market Mechanisms Advisor - 31342
The Environment Agency is committed to fostering an inclusive workforce that reflects the communities we serve. We actively seek, embrace, and live diversity for the benefit of our staff, communities, and environment. We have two permanent roles for Industrial Decarbonisation and Market Mechanisms Advisors within our Environment and Business Directorate (E&B). These positions involve supporting the development and implementation of decarbonisation policies, technical guidance, and regulatory regimes, including monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) processes related to greenhouse gas emissions. The role requires engaging with government officials and industry stakeholders, providing technical and legally sound advice, and assisting in the expansion of UK ETS and other regulatory frameworks to sectors such as maritime and heat networks. The work is dynamic, requiring swift responses to deadlines. The team leads UK policies on reducing industrial greenhouse gases, including emissions trading, low-carbon industrial clusters, and other schemes. We promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive culture, leveraging expertise and innovation to influence policy and legislation. **Candidate requirements:** Ability to work effectively with diverse backgrounds and encourage diversity issues. Experience working with multiple teams and understanding legislation and policy principles. Creative thinking and strong communication skills. Experience in data analysis, interpretation, and supporting policy changes. Suitable for a numerate science, engineering, or environmental sciences graduate (or equivalent experience) with an interest in policy implementation. Desirable but not essential: experience in monitoring, reporting, and verification in regulation. Training and development opportunities are provided. **Additional information:** Flexible working location with some travel required. Interviews via MS Teams in early to mid-August, including an assessment exercise. For more details, contact erin.priddey@environment-agency.gov.uk. Your details may be held for six months for potential alternative roles.
