TEXO Recruitment are currently looking for an Electrical Controls Engineer for our external client in Teesside on a Permanent & Hybrid basis. The Engineer will join the Marine Engineering Team, providing support in the design, integration, maintenance, and optimisation of electrical and control systems within a complex operational environment. The role offers a combination of project based work and operational support in a safety critical, highly regulated industry.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and develop electrical and control systems, including PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, and associated automation hardware and software.
* Produce functional design specifications, control philosophies, and technical documentation.
* Work closely with multi-disciplinary engineering teams to integrate control systems into wider mechanical and electrical infrastructure.
* Carry out testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical and control systems.
* Support ongoing maintenance and optimisation, improving system availability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
* Diagnose and resolve faults on electrical and control systems, implementing corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
* Ensure all work complies with relevant electrical standards, health & safety legislation, and environmental requirements.
* Prepare and maintain technical reports, manuals, drawings, and system documentation.
* Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle, including planning, execution, and handover.
Requirements:
* Degree-qualified (BEng/MEng) in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
* Strong experience with PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Bachmann, or similar IEC programming platforms).
* Knowledge of SCADA and HMI systems and AC/DC motor drives (e.g. Siemens, ABB).
* Ability to read, interpret, and produce electrical and control schematics.
* Experience with industrial automation, instrumentation, and communication protocols such as Profibus, Profinet, RS232, TCP/IP, and fibre optic systems.
* Strong analytical and fault finding skills.
* Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
* Ability to manage multiple workstreams and meet project deadlines.
