What will you be doing?
Delivering transport planning advice for development-led and public-sector projects
Preparing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans
Authoring transport chapters for Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs)
Supporting planning applications and infrastructure-led growth
Collecting, analysing and interpreting transport and traffic data
Applying highway design principles to site access and layout design
Undertaking site visits and attending meetings with clients, stakeholders and authorities
Mentoring and supporting junior members of the transport planning team
Assisting with client liaison, work-winning and fee proposals
Keeping up to date with current guidance, standards and best practice
Where you'll be doing it
You'll be joining a well-established Transport North team within a leading international consultancy, based in either Leeds or Newcastle. The business is known for delivering sustainable, resilient transport solutions that combine global expertise with strong local knowledge.
Projects span residential, commercial and mixed-use developments, as well as public-sector infrastructure schemes. The team is collaborative, technically strong and genuinely supportive, with clear routes for progression.
What you'll need
Several years' experience in UK transport planning consultancy
Proven experience producing Transport Assessments and Travel Plans
Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting transport data
Working knowledge of highway design principles for development access
Experience using tools such as TRICS, TEMPro, Junctions, LinSig and TRANSYT
Familiarity with AutoCAD and GIS software
Strong report-writing skills (Word & Excel)
Confidence working with clients and multidisciplinary teams
Nice to have
Degree or Master's in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography or similar
Progress toward or achievement of professional accreditation (CIHT, CILT, TPP, ICE)
Experience supporting junior staff or contributing to work-winning
