Sport Welfare Project Officer
Contract: Fixed term until March 2027
Hours: 30-37.5 hours per week (flexible working options available)
Location: Home-based with national travel

Active Partnerships is seeking a Sport Welfare Project Officer to enhance the national coordination of a vital safeguarding and culture change initiative in sport. This fixed-term role focuses on providing practical support, insights, and fostering collaboration across the sector.
About the role:
This role supports a major national programme aimed at improving safeguarding and welfare in grassroots sport. You will help connect and coordinate 63 Sport Welfare Officers nationwide, ensuring they have the necessary tools, support, and relationships to succeed.
Your responsibilities include gathering insights, supporting daily operations, developing inclusive resources, and being a reliable contact to facilitate long-term cultural change in sport.

Roles and Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with the central team to deliver the Sport Welfare Officer Programme effectively.
* Build positive relationships with Sport Welfare Officers and stakeholders such as Sport England, CPSU, and ACT.
* Review evaluations, extract key insights, and inform future activities.
* Create internal reports to support programme decision-making.
* Coordinate project activities, including meetings, events, and logistics.
* Assist with large-scale events and communications, ensuring they are inclusive and engaging.
* Support the development of national tools, templates, and guidance for safeguarding practices.
* Ensure all content and communications are inclusive and tailored to diverse communities.
* Maintain good administrative practices to keep tasks and timelines on track.
* Travel approximately once or twice a month for regional or national events, including occasional overnight stays.
Knowledge and Skills:
* Excellent interpersonal skills — rapport building, active listening, and clear communication.
* Strong organizational skills and ability to manage time effectively in a remote setting.
* Collaborative mindset, valuing diverse perspectives.
* Proficient written communication skills, able to adapt tone and style.
* Ability to identify themes in feedback and support decision-making.
* Basic understanding of safeguarding, welfare, and wellbeing principles.
* Comfort with digital tools such as email, video conferencing, and shared documents.
* Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.

Work Environment and Support:
* Home-based with regular online meetings.
* Travel 1-2 times per month, with some overnight stays 3-4 times per year.
* Flexible working arrangements considered.
* Option for co-working or local office access if preferred.
