How you’ll make a difference
As a Senior Business Analyst, you will help shape and design future digital solutions that deliver services to the residents and front‑line key workers of South Gloucestershire. Working within our Discover and Design practice as part of a multidisciplinary Agile Development team you will focus on applying strong business analysis and service design skills to deliver user‑centred digital products. The wider Information, Technology & Digital service delivers core IT services for the council. When providing solutions we take a low‑code approach using our standard technology platform (Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Azure PaaS) alongside configurable COTS business systems.
What you will be doing
* Day‑to‑day work on multiple digital products and projects, balancing business needs with technical solutions.
* Providing new digital tools to support frontline services, extending our public‑website portal and delivering new AI solutions to back‑office functions.
* Gathering and refining requirements, writing well‑articulated user stories with clear acceptance criteria ready for development.
* Working independently and with peers on roadmap and backlog items; attending or leading agile ceremonies, design workshops and peer‑review sessions.
* Identifying opportunities for process improvement through digital technology, especially where automation can be implemented.
* Designing end‑to‑end journeys of services and associated customer journeys.
* Producing documentary and visual artefacts—process diagrams, wireframes—and preparing evidence‑based proposals in collaboration with Solution Architects.
What we need from you
* Strong knowledge and experience in Business Analysis, Service Design, or a similar role within a technology/digital delivery team.
* Good knowledge and experience of digital transformation, organisational improvement and ensuring value for money.
* Experience in development methodologies and Agile delivery environments.
* Experience managing effective customer, stakeholder and supplier relationships and confident communication with a wide range of stakeholders.
* Excellent analytical skills, impeccable attention to detail and the ability to simplify complex information for different audiences.
* Ability to work to strict deadlines, manage a demanding workload and prioritise effectively.
* Ideally hold a recognised Business Analysis (or similar) qualification and demonstrate working knowledge of tools and techniques commonly used in this role.
What you need to know
* This is a 2‑year term contract, ending 31 December 2027.
* The role is hybrid, partly based at our office on Badminton Road, Yate and partly from home. Seek line‑manager permission before applying as it can also be offered as an internal secondment.
