Be the Hidden Hero Behind Patient Care
At HCA Healthcare UK, exceptional patient care starts long before a consultation. Our clinics can only deliver safe, seamless healthcare if they run smoothly and that’s where you come in. As a Maintenance essential team player you’ll ensure our GP practices and clinics are safe, welcoming, and fully operational, allowing clinicians to focus on what matters most: our patients. This is not a typical maintenance role, this is your opportunity to make a direct impact on the quality of care people receive every day.
What You’ll Do
In healthcare, even the smallest detail makes a difference. A well-maintained clinic means patients feel comfortable, staff feel safe, and care can be delivered without interruption. By joining us, you’ll be more than a maintenance professional, you’ll be a vital part of the patient journey.
Working closely with another maintenance colleague and our Estates team, you’ll be responsible for keeping our facilities in excellent condition. Your day-to-day will include:
1. Carrying out essential clinic maintenance—basic electrical, carpentry, plumbing, painting, and decorating
2. Prioritising urgent tasks that could affect patient care or staff safety
3. Supporting clinical teams with building-related needs so their focus stays on patients
4. Assisting in new clinic openings, ensuring facilities are ready from day one
5. Coordinating with contractors and suppliers, ensuring cost-effective and timely work
6. Providing proactive solutions to keep our environments safe, compliant, and welcoming
What You’ll Bring
7. A solid understanding of building services and maintenance practices
8. Hands-on skills across basic plumbing, electrics, and general repairs
9. IT and communication skills to log, prioritise, and manage tasks effectively
10. Experience in healthcare or office environments (advantageous, but not essential)
11. Relevant certifications (City & Guilds, NVQ, plumbing/electrical qualifications) desirable but not essential
12. Ability to travel, predominantly across London, on rare occurrences, this might be out of London; eg Manchester, Glasgow or Birmingham and costs of travel and time, will be provided. Outside London Travel is a rare occurrence.
