Employability Lecturer ROLE DESCRIPTION Newcastle College invites applications from dedicated and enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about education and student progression. We are in search of a qualified and dynamic individual to join our team as a Lecturer. The Family Learning Lecturer will play a key role in delivering inclusive, community-based learning programmes designed to support families facing the greatest barriers to education, skills and employment across Newcastle and Northumberland. Working in partnership with a range of external organisations, including community groups, schools and voluntary sector providers, the lecturer will design and deliver engaging family learning packages that bring parents, carers and children closer to education. The role will focus on building confidence, improving basic skills and creating positive learning experiences that support progression into further education, training or employment. Delivery will take place in community settings as well as college environments, ensuring accessibility for those who may not traditionally engage with formal education. The lecturer will adopt a flexible, learner-centred and trauma-informed approach, recognising the complex challenges many families face, including poverty, low confidence, and prior negative experiences of education. A core element of the role is to break down barriers to participation, supporting families to develop skills together, strengthen relationships with learning, and understand clear pathways into further opportunities. The lecturer will also contribute to progression planning, working closely with partners and internal teams to ensure learners are supported into sustained outcomes. Overall, this role is central to strengthening community engagement, widening participation and supporting regional priorities around inclusion, skills development and social mobility.
