Position:

An opportunity has arisen for a Occupational Therapist based at Ayrshire Central Hospital.

What you will do:

We are a multi-disciplinary service consisting of occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, and specialist nurses with administrator support. We also work closely alongside clinical neuropsychologists.

The caseload is varied and will be in a variety of settings – ward, home, community visits and out-patient settings. We provide specialist neurological rehabilitation to patients with a range of neurological conditions including; Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone Disease, Huntington’s Disease and Traumatic Brain Injury enabling the patient in areas of self-care, productivity and leisure. We ensure person centred outcomes are maximised through interdisciplinary working, whilst keeping the patient at the heart of their discharge planning and ongoing rehabilitation needs.

This is an exciting time to come and join an innovative, highly specialist and friendly neurological rehabilitation team, providing high quality rehabilitation, long term conditions and disability management.

We are looking for a forward thinking and highly motivated Occupational Therapist who wants to expand their neuro-rehab and long-term management skills as an autonomous practitioner within an experienced and established team. You will be encouraged to participate in clinical governance and quality improvement activities.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

The successful candidate is required to be able to demonstrate NHS Ayrshire & Arran’s values, the responsibilities of the job description and person specification. In particular you should have proven experience of working within a hospital setting and with patients with Neurological conditions. In this post you will gain valuable experience of working with patients with neurological conditions in a rewarding and well supported environment with clear supervision structure.

The post requires the successful candidate to participate in the ongoing development of innovative models of care, utilising evidence based practice and a strengths based approach. Be familiar with the MOHO and evidence-based assessment tools in order to establish a baseline functional assessment from which recommendations can determine on-going care and intervention to enable optimum functioning.

The post holder will work with multi-disciplinary colleagues to deliver interventions and to ensure implementation of local and national drivers to improve patient and carer experience.

We require an Occupational Therapist who is HCPC registered, with a Diploma or Degree qualification in Occupational Therapy.

Hours:

30 per week

Driving Licence/Car Ownership:

Line and clinical supervision structures are in place across the occupational therapy service.

A current driving license is essential due to the pan Ayrshire nature of the role.
