The post holder will play an integral part in the highly regarded Oxford University Hospitals Staff Support Service, providing specialist clinical psychology to individuals and teams who work in the trust.
Main duties of the job
* Provide direct, face‑to‑face sessions for staff referred into the service and support waiting‑list management.
* Undertake assessment and treatment work with staff members and groups, informing clinical decision‑making.
* Engage in audit and service development to deliver a high‑quality, evidence‑based service with equitable access.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
CLINICAL
* Undertake specialised psychological assessment, communicate clinical opinions and develop case formulations for interventions.
* Use a range of assessment tools, including interviews, observations, questionnaires and psychometric measures, while integrating other investigations where relevant.
* Develop specialised intervention plans, drawing on evidence of treatment efficacy and psychological principles.
* Implement a range of psychological interventions for individuals, teams and groups, adjusting formulations as needed.
* Communicate effectively and empathically with staff, line managers, Occupational Health and other professionals about complex psychological and medical matters.
* Produce clear written and spoken reports for clinical colleagues and day‑to‑day liaison.
* Maintain high mental concentration during prolonged sessions, manage emotional demand and challenge behaviors when required.
* Operate electronic equipment and record mandatory activity data.
CONSULTATION
* Provide specialist psychological advice and consultation to other professionals regarding patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment and care.
RESEARCH
* Keep current with relevant clinical research and initiate and complete research projects.
* Participate in audit and service‑related projects, analysing data and creating reports.
* Supervise research and development activities of doctoral trainees and assistant psychologists.
TEACHING, TRAINING AND SUPERVISION
* Supervise doctoral trainee clinical psychologists, providing training in all aspects of the profession.
* Supervise assistant psychologists and other psycho‑social staff as necessary.
* Provide teaching on clinical psychology for the Oxford Training Course and other staff groups.
ADMINISTRATIVE/ORGANISATIONAL
* Attend Occupational Health and OUH Wellbeing team meetings.
* Organise efficient day‑to‑day running and development of the Staff Support Service in liaison with Occupational Health.
* Maintain accurate clinical notes and documentation in line with Occupational Health procedures.
* Contribute to service/departmental policy implementation, raising issues and proposing changes.
* Plan and organise the work of trainees and assistants alongside personal caseload, research and other responsibilities.
Person specification
* Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
* HCPC registration.
* At least 2 years post‑qualification experience in a relevant field.
* Experience of working in staff support.
