The primary focus of this role is to effectively operate, inspect, and maintain an asphalt plant to ensure the production of materials that meet the company's quality standards. This includes planning production based on customer requirements and the plant's capabilities, managing start-up and shut-down procedures, and optimizing throughput within capacity. Responsibilities also involve thorough inspection and monitoring of the plant according to the site's established regime.
Maintenance and repair tasks within the individual's scope and competence are vital, along with meticulous record-keeping to meet management requirements. The role includes refuelling static and mobile machines, operating mobile plant machinery such as Front-End Loaders (FEL) for loading and plant feed, and dumpers for mineral movement as directed by site management. Ensuring the safe and proper operation of machines is of utmost importance.
The position also entails conducting maintenance on static and mobile plant equipment following manufacturer guidelines and Heidelberg Materials standards. Duties may be carried out at other Heidelberg Materials sites in the area, within reasonable travel distance, with transportation or travel allowances if applicable.
Key accountabilities
1. Operate static and mobile plant safely and efficiently.
2. Maintain mobile plant in good condition through refuelling, greasing, and cleaning per manufacturer and company recommendations.
3. Complete daily inspection sheets for static and mobile plant conditions.
4. Report problems or defects to the site supervisor.
5. Complete near-miss reports as required by site management.
6. Operate plant and machinery in an energy-efficient manner.
7. Maintain good timekeeping.
Education/Qualifications
* Good general education, with understanding of health and safety regulations and Quarry Regulations.
* Certification by EPIC to operate mobile plant.
* NVQ Level 2 in mobile plant operations following EPIC certification.
