Overview
Geoffrey Field Junior School is a thriving and dynamic school. We are looking for a new external governor to join our committed governing body, specifically the Finance Committee. Governors come from a range of backgrounds but share a common interest in providing the best possible education for our children.
The Governing Board provides strategic leadership, robust accountability and oversight for the educational and financial performance of the school, ensuring that the vision, ethos, and strategic direction are clearly defined and that the headteacher and financial resources are properly managed.
Responsibilities
* Attend Full Governing Board meetings six times a year (three face‑to‑face 2 hr sessions and three online 1 hr sessions).
* Take a link responsibility for an area covered by the Finance Committee (e.g., Finance, Buildings, Strategy, Health & Safety, IT). This includes visiting the school to review the link area with relevant staff approximately three times per year and attending the Finance Committee around the same frequency.
Qualifications & Experience
* Interest in children’s education and school performance.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Capacity to consider matters objectively and make informed judgments.
* Availability to commit time to the role.
* Experience in strategy development, finance management, buildings management or health and safety is desirable.
