Petroineos Refining is one of Europe's leading independent crude oil refiners. Our two complex upgrading refineries process up to 400,000 barrels of crude oil per day, generating in the region of 19 million tonnes of fuels per annum.
Petroineos has an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic Plant Inspectors of all levels to join our dynamic team. These are temporary positions, well suited to individuals looking to advance their careers in engineering and gain hands-on experience in a thriving and supportive workplace. The roles involve working with a variety of designs and ages of equipment and stock tanks.
All inspectors examine a wide range of pressure, mechanical, and stock tank equipment as part of asset scheduled inspection programmes, major asset projects, and refinery shutdowns.
As an Inspection Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
1. Within authorized limits, execute inspections to achieve full compliance with legal requirements and site inspection standards.
2. Define the scope for and develop Written Schemes of Examination, emphasizing degradation mechanisms, specifying services (e.g., scaffolding & insulation) requirements to achieve full compliance with site inspection standards, legal requirements, and business goals for asset integrity, efficiency, and effectiveness.
3. Develop inspection plans to match legal requirements, site standards, plant availabilities, and business TAR programs.
4. Perform physical inspections, coordinate NDT and specialist support services, and produce and review inspection reports to meet plans agreed with the asset teams.
5. Highlight repairs to restore 'fit for purpose' condition and recommend inspection intervals to achieve legal compliance and business integrity goals.
6. Provide inspection knowledge and guidance in equipment failure investigations to determine root causes and extent of failures, aiming to rectify issues and increase asset integrity and availability.
7. Contribute inspection engineering input to major shutdown programs, assisting in work scope development, implementation, and completion, while ensuring NDT resources support asset integrity and TAR schedule delivery.
Candidates should have an engineering background and demonstrable experience as a 'competent person' in inspection. Experience in design, fabrication, maintenance, and operation of mechanical equipment is beneficial. Good communication skills, attention to detail, and procedural adherence are essential.
Qualifications:
1. Ideally meet the minimum of UKAS RG-2 Category 3 Inspector qualification.
2. Hold an appropriate qualification aligned with UKAS RG-2 Category, such as a Degree or NVQ.
3. Relevant experience in inspection roles.
4. EEMUA 159 and/or Plant Inspector qualifications are beneficial.
Key Skills and Knowledge:
1. Understanding of API/ASME/PSSR/EEMUA standards and guides.
2. Knowledge of refinery damage mechanisms.
3. Familiarity with RBI application.
4. Knowledge of NDT techniques, including their application and limitations.
5. Strong interpersonal skills.
6. Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
7. Motivated with a proactive approach to making a difference.
