Academic Teaching Fellow (Clinical Educator)
This post is an ideal opportunity for a doctor wishing to develop educational insight and experience. Academic Teaching Fellows work with module leads to plan and deliver all aspects of undergraduate medical education to first‑ and second‑year medical students. The role emphasises demonstrating clinical skills and providing clinical context to student learning in the first and second years. Members of the team may also participate in a variety of academic tasks including student assessment and applicant selection.
Main duties of the job
The primary role of an Academic Teaching Fellow is to facilitate group work sessions that provide a clinical context to the medical curriculum, ensuring the integration of biomedical science in a clinical setting for the students' learning.
Secondary duties may include:
* Written exam question writing, reviewing and marking
* OSCE writing, reviewing and assessing
* Filming videos for the clinical skills foundation course and OSCE training
* Participating in the student selection process
* Showcasing facilities on University open days
* Reviewing and developing teaching materials
* Delivering revision sessions
* Supervising Student Selected Components
* Acting as a personal tutor for students in the first and second years of Medical School
* Participating in Quality Improvement Projects within the faculty
This list is not exhaustive but demonstrates the scope of the Academic Teaching Fellow role. Additional tasks may be assigned at the discretion of Medical School leadership.
Job responsibilities
Part‑time (2–4 days a week) at The University of Buckingham Medical School. Responsibilities include facilitating small‑group teaching of first and second‑year medical students to support high‑quality education. The fixed‑term post (August 2026‑August 2027) suits doctors who have completed the UK Foundation Programme and wish to build on their teaching experience and develop expertise in medical education.

Qualifications
* Bachelor of Medicine
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practise

Experience
* Completion of the UK Foundation Programme or equivalent
* Two years of post‑graduate experience in the NHS as a doctor
