About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and flexible Locum Practice Nurse to join a busy GP practice in Portsmouth. This role offers ad-hoc shifts and block bookings, perfect for nurses looking to work flexibly while gaining experience across a range of primary care services.
The successful candidate will provide high-quality patient care, support routine and specialist clinics, and assist with immunisations, chronic disease management, and minor procedures. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a supportive team while maintaining control of your schedule.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide safe and effective care to patients in line with practice protocols
* Conduct routine health checks, immunisations, and screening programs
* Manage wound care, dressings, and chronic disease monitoring
* Support vaccination and immunisation clinics (flu, COVID-19, travel vaccines)
* Administer medications as prescribed and assist with medication reviews
* Maintain accurate patient records using EMIS Web
* Work collaboratively with GPs, healthcare assistants, and administrative staff
Requirements
* Registered Nurse (NMC) with current registration
* Experience working in General Practice or primary care preferred
* Confident using EMIS Web or similar patient record systems
* Strong clinical, organisational, and communication skills
* Flexible, professional, and reliable approach
