Your new companyThis Top 10 UK accountancy and advisory firm is continuing to strengthen its Public Sector Audit practice and is seeking an experienced Audit Manager to join its growing team. With a strong national presence and an established reputation for delivering high-quality assurance services, the firm works with a wide range of public sector clients. Your new roleAs a Public Sector Audit Manager, you will take ownership of a diverse portfolio of clients, leading audit engagements from planning through to completion. You will work closely with senior stakeholders and play a key role in ensuring quality, compliance, and efficient delivery across all assignments.You will also contribute to the continued growth of the firm’s public sector offering, getting involved in tenders, business development and service innovation. Alongside this, you will lead, coach and develop high-performing audit teams.Key Responsibilities
* Manage and deliver audits for a varied public sector portfolio
* Lead audit assignments from planning through to completion
* Ensure compliance with public sector audit frameworks and standards (e.g. NAO Code)
* Identify and manage audit risk, tailoring audit strategies accordingly
* Build and maintain strong relationships with senior client stakeholders
* Review audit work, ensuring quality and providing clear feedback
* Manage budgets, timelines and resource allocation effectively
* Support tender processes and business development initiatives
* Drive continuous improvement in audit quality and methodology
What you'll need to succeed
* ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
* Strong experience within public sector audit
* Good understanding of public sector financial reporting and regulatory frameworks
* Proven people management and leadership experience
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* Ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines
* Proactive, solutions-focused mindset
* Experience with audit software and strong IT skills
