Job Summary
The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs over 12,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. Ours is a diverse workforce, with roles ranging from trainers, human resources, teachers, and psychologists to storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff. There are many different functions and professions delivering key outputs for the Army.
As the world becomes more reliant on digital training solutions, the Land Command & Staff College (LCSC) delivers training for both Regular and Reserve British Army Officers at the rank of Major (at Shrivenham) and Captain (at Warminster).

Job Description
As the Information Support Officer (ISO), you will make Knowledge and Information Management (KIM), Data Protection Act (DPA) and information support decisions for LCSC and, as its primary lead, will provide direct support to HQ LCSC, Jnr Div Management and the respective Directing Staff teams. Under your Communication and Information Systems responsibilities, you will interpret and implement current policy and support all staff in improving ways of working. LCSC takes its Information Management (IM) responsibilities very seriously. This position therefore requires a highly motivated self-starter who is well-organised, alert to detail and has a strong professional work ethic.
Key Responsibilities Of The Information Support Officer:
* supporting the Information Manager in developing the organisation’s Information Governance strategy and executing the LCSC Information Plan (IP).
* keeping abreast of legislative changes which may impact the organisation, and amending information management practices as required
* supporting the Information Manager in developing appropriate retention and disposal schedules for electronic content.
* providing advice on information management issues and promoting best practice relating to information management.
* ensuring information management processes are reviewed and updated regularly to ensure they are fit for purpose under the latest Knowledge and Information Management (KIM) guidelines.
* collaborating with teams and networks across the organisation and across government to understand stakeholder concerns, build consensus and help KIM messaging ‘land’
* supporting the Information Manager in conducting information audits to make sure assets are safe-guarded and the appropriate controls have been applied.
* supporting the Information Manager in the procurement of information technology systems and applications, particularly the LCSC’s SharePoint.
* supporting the Information Manager in advising on information risk.
* representing senior leaders at IM meetings and working groups and feeding back their findings and observations.
* As the (Local) Data Protection Adviser, ensuring compliance with DPIAs, Certificate of Conformity, up-dating Army Information Asset Register, maintaining training records maintaining training records and assuring compliance by reporting feedback to higher authorities via quarterly returns.
* As LCSC’s MoDNet Local Security Officer, conduct incoming/outgoing staff moves, develop business cases and make IT catalogue requests for new or replacement CIS equipment, new accounts as required. Also, ensure comprehensive asset management via quarterly checks.
* Required to visit Jnr Div at Warminster when necessary.
* Assure comprehensive asset management and, in turn, will be the MoDNet Authorised requester for IT catalogue requests and develop cases in order to procure new or replacement equipment. They will create and close user accounts for incoming and exiting staff and, to advise this, will conduct staff arrival inductions and exit consultations.

Essential Skills Required:
* Experience working in an Information Management role at level 2 (working).
* If not already in possession, an expressed willingness to obtain an Information Management related professional qualification within the first 6 months of starting.
* Practitioner level in Office 365 applications. In particular: Teams, SharePoint, OneNote, Outlook and PowerPoint.
