Job Description The Company: If you’re an experienced Coffee Engineer who specialises in maintenance and repair, enjoys fault-finding, autonomy, and being trusted to do the job properly - this role is for you. This opportunity is with a long-established and recognisable retail bakery brand where you will be responsible for Coffee systems across 100 retail sites around North West London, Home Counties to the South Coast. The business is investing in long-term, in-house technical expertise, bringing Coffee System support internal - meaning you will become the go-to Coffee System specialist across the estate, trusted to manage breakdowns, prioritise work, and structure your own days. Opportunity: The Coffee Engineer is responsible for maintaining, servicing, and optimising coffee brewing and production equipment, ensuring exceptional product quality, equipment reliability, and operational efficiency. The role includes technical support, quality assurance, staff training, and continuous improvement across all relevant sites. Knowledge of La Cimbali, (essential) & WMF, and Franke (desirable) machines are required. Key Responsibilities: Equipment Management & Maintenance Install, service, and repair coffee machines and brewing equipment, including La Cimbali, WMF, and Franke. Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance and respond to equipment breakdowns. Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults. Maintain accurate service logs and technical documentation. Manage spare parts and on-hand stock levels. Quality Assurance Ensure all coffee output meets company quality and consistency standards. Perform calibration, extraction testing, and quality checks. Collaborate with roasters and barista teams to optimise extraction and brew profiles. Process Improvement & Troubleshooting Identify opportunities for equipment performance improvements and workflow efficiency. Conduct root cause analysis on recurring technical issues. Support continuous improvement initiatives across production and retail sites. Training & Support Train staff on machine operation, cleaning procedures, and basic troubleshooting. Provide onboarding support for new team members. Act as a technical resource for retail and operations teams. Health, Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and food safety standards. Follow regulatory requirements and internal procedures. Promote and maintain safe working practices across all sites. Your Experience: Skills & Competencies Strong mechanical and electrical technical aptitude. Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills. Clear communication and strong customer-service mindset. Ability to work independently and manage a multi-site workload. Confidence delivering training to non-technical staff. Requirements/Track Record: Proven experience servicing or maintaining commercial coffee equipment (bean-to-cup, espresso, grinders, brewers). Experience with La Cimbali (essential), WMF, and Franke machines is required. Background in engineering, manufacturing, or field-service roles. Qualifications: Technical or engineering qualification (desirable). Knowledge of single-phase and three-phase electrical systems. PSSR training (advantageous). Boiler Certification (advantageous). Food Safety certification (advantageous). Full UK driving licence (if field-based). The package?
