Design & Technology - DT Technician

Typical Responsibilities:
Material Preparation: Pre-cutting timber, metals, and plastics for KS3/KS4 practical lessons.
Machinery Maintenance: Ensuring band saws, circular saws, lathes, and pillar drills are in safe, working order.
CAD/CAM Support: Assisting students and staff with laser cutters, 3D printers, and 2D Design software.
Health & Safety: Conducting weekly safety checks, managing COSHH records, and ensuring Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) systems are functioning.
Stock Management: Ordering consumables and maintaining an organized inventory of tools and hardware.
Classroom Support: Providing technical demonstrations and supporting students during practical construction phases.
What you'll need:
Experience: Previous experience as a technician in a school, college, or industrial workshop environment.
Health & Safety Knowledge: A strong understanding of BS 4163 and COSHH regulations. DATA H&S accreditation is highly desirable.
Technical Skillset: Proficiency with hand tools and large-scale workshop machinery. Experience with Food Tech or Art & Design is a plus.
Safeguarding: A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one-we reimburse the cost!).
Reliability: A proactive "can-do" attitude to support a busy department.
