Job Title: Finance Assistant (Part-Time - 1 Day per Week)
Location: Alton, Hampshire
Working Pattern: 1 day per week (7.5 hours) - Tuesdays
Contract: Temporary initially, with potential to become permanent
Reporting to: Finance Manager
Pay Rate: £15 - £18 per hour (depending on experience)
The Role
An established professional services business is seeking a Finance Assistant to provide hands-on support to the Finance Manager. This is a flexible, part-time opportunity suited to someone with experience or exposure to transactional finance who is looking to work one day per week.
The role will initially focus on day-to-day finance administration and supporting year-end processes. There is scope for the role to develop over time to include sales ledger responsibilities and greater involvement in management accounting, depending on experience and business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Processing purchase invoices
2. Supplier statement reconciliations
3. Processing staff expenses
4. Managing company credit card transactions
5. Supporting year-end activities and liaising with external accountants
6. Maintaining accurate and well-organised financial records
7. Assisting with general finance administration as required
8. Potential future involvement in sales ledger activities
Systems
9. Experience with accounting systems desirable (currently Sage 200)
About You
10. Some experience or exposure to purchase ledger and/or sales ledger
11. Comfortable handling transactional finance tasks
12. Organised, reliable and detail-oriented
13. Confident working in a small team and open-plan environment
14. Comfortable in a dog-friendly office
15. Able to work independently and manage workload effectively
