Concrete4Change (C4C) is an R&D company developing groundbreaking technology to utilize and permanently mineralize CO2 in concrete. To date, C4C has raised £20 million from private and public investors and is partly owned by two of the largest concrete manufacturers globally.
Job Overview:
As R&D Manager, you are a self-starter who can develop new technology areas leveraging existing capabilities and expertise. You will plan, procure, and manage the construction laboratory in line with regulations. You will lead a team of civil engineers to utilize cement and concrete chemistry knowledge for carbon capture and utilization in concrete and evaluate CCU techniques on the properties and long-term performance of cement-based materials.
Responsibilities:
* PhD in construction.
* Post Doc experience prior to entering the industry, with a history of leading large research teams.
* Significant line management experience.
* Ideally, experience in a similar role in a construction R&D company.
* A large portion of your team must have held PhDs and conducted groundbreaking research.
* Experience working with concrete mix and CO2 capture, recycling, reduction technologies/systems.
* Proven experience in managing and leading multidisciplinary R&D teams, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
* Excellent project management skills, with a track record of successfully delivering R&D projects on time and within budget.
* Experience in problem-solving and troubleshooting, with the ability to identify issues and propose innovative solutions.
* Experience in patent writing and grant proposal development.
* Experience in the mineralization of CO2 for various applications.
* Understanding of concrete and cement chemistry.
