We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Accountant to join our growing accountancy practice in the Cambridge area. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is AAT qualified (or studying) or holds a degree in Accounting/Finance and is keen to build a long-term career in practice. Full training and support will be provided to help you progress and develop your skills.
Duties
* Assist in the preparation of accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
* Support VAT return preparation and bookkeeping using software such as Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage
* Assist with tax computations and year-end accounts under supervision
* Conduct bank reconciliations and maintain accurate client records
* Support budgeting processes and assist with monitoring expenditure where required
* Handle day-to-day client communications, including collecting information and answering queries
* Provide general office and administrative support to ensure smooth operations
* Participate in audits and compliance reviews by preparing supporting documentation
Requirements
* AAT qualified (or studying) OR a degree in Accounting/Finance
* At least 1 year's experience in an accountancy or finance role (practice experience desirable)
* Familiarity with accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage; training will be given)
* Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills
* Organised, reliable, and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
* Confident communication skills, both written and verbal
* Enthusiastic about developing a career in accountancy practice
