Senior Software Engineer - 3 days a week in Abingdon
We are currently supporting an innovative engineering and technology business in their search for a Senior Software Engineer to join a growing software team working on complex, high-performance applications.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving challenging technical problems, contributing to modern software development practices, and working across the full software lifecycle in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and maintain scalable software applications using C# and .NET
* Contribute to the development of high-performance systems and real-time applications
* Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering and technical teams
* Support software architecture decisions and contribute to technical direction
* Participate in code reviews, testing, debugging, and continuous improvement activities
* Collaborate within Agile development teams to deliver high-quality software solutions
* Help improve development processes, tooling, and engineering standards
Requirements
* 5+ years of commercial software engineering experience
* Strong experience with C# and .NET development
* Exposure to or experience with C++
* Solid understanding of software engineering best practices and design principles
* Experience working in Agile development environments
* Strong problem-solving and communication skills
* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team
* Experience with distributed systems or high-performance applications
* Knowledge of cloud technologies or DevOps practices
* Experience working within engineering, scientific, or industrial environments
* Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
