As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase, you will lead a technical area within the Commercial and Investment Banking Payments Technology team, driving impact across departments. Utilize your deep knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to oversee multiple complex projects and initiatives. You will serve as a primary decision-maker for your teams and be a driver of innovation and solution delivery.
In this role, you will promote impactful changes across teams, technologies, and projects, managing multiple complex initiatives. JPMorgan Chase processes payments averaging $10 trillion, representing 24% of the market. We are innovating with new payment methods like JP Coin, expanding into new markets, and enhancing settlement speeds with real-time payments. As volumes increase and regulations evolve, advanced technologies are essential to seamlessly meet regulatory requirements and sustain business momentum.

Leading a talented team of over 25 professionals, including 3-4 direct-report managers, you will drive innovation and excellence. Job Responsibilities
* Lead technology and process implementations to achieve functional technology objectives.
* Hold accountability for decisions influencing team resources, budgets, operations, and process execution.
* Ensure governance for coding decisions, control obligations, and success measures such as cost of ownership and maintainability.
* Deliver technical solutions that can be leveraged across multiple business domains.
* Influence peer leaders and senior stakeholders across business, product, and technology teams.
* Champion the firm’s culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
* Deep expertise in cloud implementations and security controls.
* Strive to adopt newer technologies, including AI and ML.
* Demonstrate expertise in implementing reliable platforms with high availability (e.g., three nines or more).
* Maintain a problem-solving mindset.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
* Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and extensive applied experience, leading technologists to manage and resolve complex technical challenges.
* Experience developing or leading cross-functional teams of technologists.
* Experience hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.
* Experience leading a product as a Product Owner or Product Manager.
* Practical cloud-native experience.
* Expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields.
* Deep understanding of technologies such as PySpark, AWS Cloud, Databricks, Java.
* Experience implementing scaled platforms.
* Excellent communication skills to engage diverse stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
* Experience working at the code level.
* Understanding of regulations in the EMEA region.
* Adept at working across multiple time zones.
* Payments subject matter expertise.
* Masters or Ph.D. in software or data engineering disciplines preferred.
