Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 basic, plus commission potential up to an additional £60,000
About the Role
A growing business in the technical sales sector is looking to add a Business Development Executive to its commercial team. This person will be responsible for generating new sales opportunities and developing cross-sell activities into an established customer base.
The position is primarily telephone-based (around 90%), but includes occasional face-to-face meetings and attendance at international tradeshows. You'll join a small, collaborative team reporting directly to the Commercial Director, in a company known for a friendly atmosphere and strong employee retention.
Responsibilities
Identify and target new customer accounts to grow business revenue
Develop and deliver tailored sales pitches
Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation to closing deals
Maintain and grow relationships with existing clients, seeking opportunities to introduce additional products
Prepare sales quotations in multiple currencies, requiring confident numeracy skills
Attend trade exhibitions and customer meetings, including occasional overseas travel
Keep accurate records in CRM systems and produce reports as needed

Requirements
Essential:
At least 2 years' experience in a technical sales or B2B sales role
A degree (ideally 2:1 or above) in a scientific discipline, given the highly technical nature of discussions with clients
Excellent written and spoken English
Comfortable working with MS Word and MS Excel
Full UK driving licence
Strong numeracy skills (GCSE Maths grade C or above, or equivalent) - candidates will complete a short numeracy exercise during the hiring process
Must live within commuting distance of Bourne End (SL8 5DT) or be willing to relocate
Preferred:
Knowledge of the medical or healthcare industry
Experience using CRM software
A non-English European language would be an advantage
Interviews will take place over three stages, including an initial phone conversation, on-site interviews with practical exercises, and a final meeting with senior management.
