This is a full-time role designed to support young boys-many of whom have faced early trauma, have additional needs, or are at risk of disengaging from education. This isn't just a job-it's a mission to positively influence behaviour, boost self-esteem, and help children feel safe, seen, and supported. Your Role as a Male Mentor / Support Worker As a Male Mentor / Support Worker, your core responsibility will be to model positive behaviours and attitudes to young boys across the schools you'll support. Many of these children lack strong male influences and are in urgent need of calm, compassionate guidance in both their learning and emotional development. You will: Build trusting relationships with young boys aged 5-11, offering mentorship and daily emotional check-ins. Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils with behavioural challenges, SEN, and those at risk of exclusion. Model and reinforce positive behaviour strategies, resilience, and emotional regulation. Support pupils both in and out of the classroom to improve focus, social skills, and self-worth. Liaise with class teachers, SENDCos, and safeguarding leads to share insights and ensure consistent support. Use trauma-informed approaches and practical, proactive interventions to de-escalate emotional and behavioural incidents. Offer structured support during unstructured times such as lunch and transitions, when many pupils feel most vulnerable. Where You'll Work Your main base will be a nurturing, values-driven primary school located in Wormley, renowned for its inclusive ethos, forest school approach, and strong focus on emotional wellbeing. You'll also travel between several local primary schools as part of a long-established education and family support charity. The charity works closely with schools, social care, and parents to deliver joined-up support for children facing disadvantage or family challenges. This is a unique chance to be part of a charity that makes a real difference in the lives of hundreds of local families. ✅ Who We're Looking For This Male Mentor / Support Worker role is ideal for someone who: Has experience working with children or young people in a support worker, care, or school-based role.
