We are pleased to invite applications for a Social Worker to join our team supporting children and young people in our Safeguarding Interventions Service. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone committed to supporting children and young people to achieve their potential.
It is an exciting time to join York, which has been rated "Outstanding" by Ofsted. Successful candidates will be involved in driving a strong value base of good practice in York and embedding our new practice model, Building Brighter Futures.
We are on a journey of implementing Signs of Safety led by Andrew Turnell, and providing training in Family Seeing and Safe & Together. Successful candidates will receive continuous training, access to knowledge banks, and will be part of the leadership group driving the Building Brighter Futures practice model forward.
Key Responsibilities
* Support children with child in need plans, children subject to child protection plans, and those involved in care proceedings.
* Manage a manageable caseload to form strong relationships with children, young people, and the team around them.
* Work in a high‑challenge, high‑support environment with an established, committed team.
* Provide regular one‑to‑one and peer group supervision.
* Work independently, meeting timescales and managing conflicting priorities.
* Prepare clear, analytical, and coherent reports.
* Assess need and write children’s plans that include the voice of children, young people, and families throughout the process.
Qualifications & Skills
* Highly motivated and committed to ensuring timescales are met for a good quality service.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Ability to work independently within timescales and with conflicting priorities.
* Competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public in spoken English at CEFR level C1.

Working Arrangements
Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role within CYC is different, and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
