Spire Manchester currently has a fantastic opportunity for Senior BMS to work as a Senior BMs and also become a training lead for the Spire Manchester Pathology Department

Weekday 7-3,10-6,12-8 and on call
Weekend 8-4,10-6 and on call
Job Purpose
To assist in the organisation, management and development of services within a specialised area of the pathology service, or across a range of services provided by the laboratory at Hub Hospital and support the provision of pathology services for spoke site Hospitals
To liaise with the Laboratory Consultant and the Pathology Manager, to ensure the provision of the high-quality service in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
To liaise with the National Pathology Speciality – Training and Education regarding member of the local team who are undertaking pathology related educational training
Overall Responsibilities:
1. Develop practice including investigation and reporting, within your areas of specialist expertise.
2. Analyse, interpret and report information and knowledge related to ideas and concepts.
3. Develop and evaluate the movement of laboratory specimens and blood.
4. Assist with research and development.
5. Develop practice in the application of technology for measuring and monitoring pathology investigations, within your specialist area of expertise.
6. Provide and receive complex, sensitive or contentious information.
7. Develop own knowledge and skills and that of others.
8. Promotes best practice in health and safety and security.
9. Assist in maintaining and developing services.
10. Deliver quality improvement with the department senior team.
11. Support and enable equality, diversity and rights.
12. Acknowledge the risk of Healthcare Associated Infections (HCAI) and understand own responsibility as agreed with line manager in the prevention and control of HCAI.
13. Support Pathology Manager with training and development of pathology staff
14. Liaise with the National Pathology Specialists for Training and Education
Qualifications and Training, Experience
Essential
15. Degree qualified, HNC Medical Laboratory Sciences or equivalent which would allow individual to be eligible for Associate Membership of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences.
16. Biomedical Scientist with the Health & Care Professions Council.
17. Working within a performance driven culture while maintaining safe standards.
18. Meeting financial and budgetary targets.
19. Supporting the commercial development of pathology services locally
20. Experience in a scientific laboratory.
Desirable
21. Experience of independent sector
22. Strategically commercial and familiarity with service developments.
23. Experience of working in partnership with consultants and participating in creating innovative solution for new pathology services.
24. Challenging consultants to influence evidence-based practice
