Location: Glasgow – Govan and Scotstoun (On-site, attendance at a recruitment day in Glasgow required)
Salary: £38,662.00 (plus potential additional shift allowance of 33%)
Your Mission:
As a Welder at BAE Systems, you will play a crucial role in crafting world-leading naval ships that support global security and defense. Your expertise will help us deliver Type 26 frigates to the Royal Navy, making a real impact in the maritime industry.
What You’ll Be Doing:
* Welding a variety of materials, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
* Utilizing multiple welding processes such as Manual Metal Arc, Metal Active Gas, and more.
* Achieving high standards in welding butts and fillets.
* Focusing on FCAW/MAG processes using ceramic tiles.
* Conducting self-verification on all welds.
* Adhering to SHE standards related to welding, including fume control.
Your Skills and Experience:
* Modern Apprenticeship certificate (Trade Papers required).
* Current Weld Codings.
* Knowledge of ceramic tile welding.
* Experience with welding and associated equipment.
* Proficiency in Flux Core Arc Welding and Metal Core Arc Welding.
* Ability to produce welds that pass visual and NDE examinations.
* Experience with carbon steel thicknesses ranging from 4-15mm.
* Understanding of SHE and Risk Assessment awareness.
* Background in maritime or major construction/manufacturing environments.
* Experience in MIG welding of aluminum.
* Familiarity with automated welding equipment.
