This is a general obstetrics and gynaecology post with the opportunity to develop a special interest within gynaecology or obstetrics. We welcome candidates looking to progress towards completion of training via the portfolio pathway.
The post has elements of both obstetrics and gynaecology, including non-patient clinics, sessions on the labour ward, theatre, and emergency obstetrics and gynaecology. The trust would encourage development of a special interest to complement the currently provided special interests.
We anticipate the successful candidate will embrace all aspects of the specialty, including surgery, audit, research, innovation, and education.
Main Duties of the Job
* Play an active role in the development and delivery of the service, in conjunction with consultant colleagues and management.
* Ensure the Trust meets its performance targets, in conjunction with colleagues and management.
* Work effectively as part of the multidisciplinary team, with scope for personal development.
* Participate in audit and directorate meetings, and other departmental meetings relevant to the specialty, such as governance, clinical risk management, and guideline groups.
* Provide direct input to patients, contribute to multidisciplinary teams, and lead the coordination of care for patients within Preston and Chorley Hospitals.
* Develop close links with clinical teams in other hospitals in the network.
* Undergo appraisal and job planning.
The main duties of this role will contribute to the provision of on-call services as a senior tier 2 doctor, covering gynaecology and providing support to the junior tier 2 doctor covering obstetrics.
