Trainee Estimator (Mechanical & Electrical)
Marble Talent Group are looking for a Trainee Estimator who is eager to learn and develop within a successful estimating team for our client on a permanent basis. This role offers the opportunity to support the delivery of major Mechanical or Electrical construction projects.
You will assist the team in achieving both operational and financial objectives, while developing your skills in a collaborative project environment. The role provides valuable exposure across the full project lifecycle, helping to ensure projects meet high standards and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the preparation of cost estimates for electrical projects, including labour, materials, and subcontractor costs.
* Support the review of drawings, specifications, and tender documents to understand project scope.
* Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing information and gain exposure to rate negotiation.
* Work closely with internal teams to ensure estimates align with technical and project requirements.
* Help identify potential risks, cost-saving opportunities, and value engineering options under guidance from senior team members.
* Contribute to tender submissions and support the effective handover of information to project delivery teams.
Skills & Experience
* Some experience or a strong interest in estimating within the Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) sector.
* Basic understanding of M&E systems, construction methods, and industry standards is desirable.
* Willingness to learn how to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
* Strong numerical, analytical, and attention-to-detail skills, with a proactive approach to learning.
* Good communication skills, with the ability to engage with suppliers and subcontractors.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
