An exciting opportunity is available for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to be part of our Commercial team, working for Northern Powergrid in the North East, Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire.
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role within the Commercial team, working closely with project delivery teams to ensure robust commercial controls are in place from pre-construction through to final account. Reporting directly to the Head of Commercial Management, you will lead the commercial team in the North East, providing advice to the wider business, and supporting the Head of Commercial Management with the commercial strategy for the business.

Key Responsibilities
·Provide leadership of the commercial team in the North East.
·Ensure that our contracts deliver the business benefits identified at contract award by monitoring overall costs, unit costs, trends and Performance Management comparisons between Service Partners.
·Provide commercial input including financial forecasts and Contractual performance to the relevant management teams.
·Audit the business units to ensure compliance with the commercial requirements of the contract, ensuring timely payments in line with the agreement terms and conditions.
·As necessary; provide assistance and support with the interpretation of contractual terms.
·Maintain a centralised risk and issues register for all framework contracts for high level risks and issues.
·Review periodically contract expenditure and determine any expenditure-based discounts that may be applicable.
·Lead on rate reviews / negotiations and progression of inflationary related increases.
·Negotiate additional rates / variations to existing agreements with our Service Partners including updating and sharing revised ratebooks with the relevant parties in a controlled manner.
·Ensure adherence to the contract enlargement rules by routinely monitoring contract expenditure.
·Document end-to-end processes that involve our Service Providers and seek to initiate best practices across all contracts where appropriate.
·Ensure Service Provider and business relationships are established, developed, managed and maintained and that any deterioration of the business relationship is quickly addressed and resolved as appropriate.
·Promote collaborative working relationships to promote the sharing of service innovation, process improvements and delivery efficiencies.

Qualifications and Attributes
Essential Qualifications and Experience
•BSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
•Experience leading and managing a team of Quantity Surveyors
•Relevant experience in the construction industry
•Extensive experience administering a range of contracts
•Extensive experience with scheme finance and commercial management
•Full, current UK driving licence.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
•Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).
•Experience in the utility construction industry
•Experience of commercially managing large framework contracts.
