Prospero Teaching are looking for dedicated Tutors to support children and young people aged 5-18 across Southampton and surrounding areas. These learners are at risk of permanent exclusion (PEX) and need tailored, 1:1 support to thrive both academically and emotionally.
As a Tutor you will:
1. Deliver Maths and English sessions tailored to individual needs Support learners in developing positive relationships and de-escalation strategies Help build confidence, routine, and a love for learning Work in homes, community settings, or alternative provision spaces
About you:
2. Tutors, teachers, mentors, TAs, Cover Supervisors, or youth workers with experience supporting young people Strong communication and behaviour management skills A calm, consistent, and encouraging approach Ability to work independently and adapt to different learning styles
Position – AP Tutor
Contract or position start date – ASAP
Contract or position end date (if applicable) – N/A
Full time/part-time – Opportunities for both
Hours – 12 Hours per week- for the right candidate, this can be increased to full time with additional tuition opportunities
Essential & Desirable Qualifications:
3. Minimum of 1 year of experience working within UK schools- ESSENTIAL
Trauma-informed and skilled in de-escalation and emotional regulation strategies- Desirable
To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:
4. Hold right to work in the UK
5. Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
6. Provide references upon request
7. Possess up to date Safeguarding Training (or a willingness to undertake this)
