Role Specification
Role Responsibilities
* Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in logistics, e-commerce fulfilment, and food processing, defining standard processes for each category.
* Conduct capital engineering feasibility studies and process modeling within the global operations domain.
* Design and maintain initial and detailed equipment designs for process categories.
* Create engineering standards to complement equipment design, facilitating project feasibility and execution.
* Develop project designs for supplier quoting, budgeting, and ordering.
* Participate in reviews for major capital projects (£1M+).
Key Activities
* Lead feasibility studies for major Capex investments, focusing on capacity, innovation, quality, and cost improvements.
* Create standard engineering designs and estimates for capital initiatives.
* Define processes to maximize operational income and efficiency for large projects.
* Develop equipment standards to enable group procurement and standard pricing.
* Implement and champion standardized processes and equipment across the group.
* Benchmark equipment and processes to identify competitive advantages.
* Evaluate new technologies and share best practices across the group.
* Support project engineers during equipment build, testing, and commissioning.
* Participate in post-project reviews for continuous improvement.
Core Skills
* Experience in logistics, e-commerce, and food processing projects in high-speed consumer environments.
* 6-8+ years of managing multi-functional, multi-national engineering projects.
* Degree or equivalent in Mechatronic, Mechanical, Electrical, Production, or Industrial Engineering.
* Knowledge of process definition and engineering standards.
* Relationships with OEMs and engineering service providers.
* Proficiency with proven and advanced technology applications.
* Experience with Lean, WCM, or similar methodologies.
* Strong numeracy and financial awareness for project analysis.
* Understanding of supply chain and end-to-end business processes.
* Excellent organizational, influencing, and planning skills.
* Effective communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
* Proficiency with web-based systems and Microsoft Office suite.
* Ability to identify engineering solutions that support strategic manufacturing goals.
* Judgment in risk management and contingency planning.
