Warrants Officer

Permanent, Full Time, Leamington, Grade C (£27,204.00 - £29,859.00)

Those on the redeployment register will be given prior consideration.

The main purpose of this role is to interrogate IT systems and analyse force held intelligence to support the timely execution of fail to appear warrants.

To manage the efficient deployment and execution of fail to appear warrants across the Force and on behalf of other Forces.

To maintain an effective administrative system by collating intelligence to facilitate the building of warrant packages in order to provide a quality service which ensures offenders are brought to Justice.


Main Responsibilities

To be the single point of contact for police officers, Crown Prosecution Service and His Majesty's Courts and Tribunals Service for all fail to appear warrant queries.

Review original offence information to accurately grade individual warrants in line with National Protocol.

Undertake an accurate risk assessment of each wanted person in accordance with inter agency protocols – recording the outcome of each risk assessment on force systems.

To research, collate and gather information from authorised sources to expedite execution of fail to appear warrants.

To ensure accurate and timely updates to Force and national systems such as PNC and in line with national performance indicators.

To undertake full and detailed audits for all live warrants held on a monthly basis, coordinating information alongside our partner agencies.

Make best use of technology and interrogate Force systems such as PNC, CRASH, PentiP, and Athena in order to obtain intelligence information that can be used to locate wanted individuals.

To maintain auditable and accessible records on actions taken to locate individuals in a manner that is easily understood.

To undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, as required.

All members of the workforce are to comply with all Health and Safety regulations in accordance with the Warwickshire Police Health and Safety Policy.


Person Specification


Knowledge

* 5 GCSEs grade A‑C or 9‑4 including English and Maths, or equivalent.
* A good understanding of the Criminal Justice System, in particular with regard to offenders who fail to attend court.


Experience

* Experience in researching and collating complex information to aid decision making.
* Experience of providing detailed written updates to senior managers.
* Experience in maintaining detailed and accurate records of actions taken.
* Experience of working independently, and as part of a team.
* Experience of prioritising and allocating workloads.


Key Skills

* Proven ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, in writing and verbally.
* Proven ability to negotiate and influence people in order to achieve an outcome.
* Proven ability to work to strict deadlines and managing a high workload, whilst balancing competing demands.
* Competent in the use of IT, including Microsoft packages or equivalent.
* Proven ability to problem solve and provide practical solutions.
