We are seeking a suitably qualified, experienced and highly motivated Structural Engineer to join our highly professional and successful Building Control team and help us provide an excellent service to all our customers. About the Team Bath & North East Somerset is a lovely part of the country containing the historic city of Bath and beautiful surrounding countryside. Building work in the district is varied and interesting, ranging from residential, commercial, educational and health care sectors, covering all types of projects involving alterations to existing historic buildings and exciting new build schemes. The Building Control team also have a wide range of partner companies for whom we undertake building regulation application assessments in areas outside of our district, so you will always have an interesting and wide range of work to deal with. About the Role The Structural Engineer post is a key part of the Building Control team to assist in the work of the team. The main areas of responsibility for this role are:- assess structural calculations submitted in support of building regulation applications liaise with agents and structural engineers to ensure plans submitted comply with building regulation structural requirements. undertake occasional site inspections to advise Building Control Surveyors undertake occasional site visits to assess dangerous structures to ensure public safety is maintained appraise structural design details for temporary structures/stands for events and at sports grounds including Bath Rugby and Bath Racecourse. This role also benefits from a significant emergency call out allowance.
