Job Overview / Introduction

Our senior consultants provide expertise to help clients attain performance ambitions through proposed changes.
Reporting to a manager and working directly with the client, the Senior Consultant Business Analyst is responsible for providing independent expert advice to help identify and solve complex business challenges, increase value, and maximise operational efficiency and profitability. Drawing on strong supply chain experience, using established methodologies and working closely with the client’s senior leadership and support teams, the consultant will: support the creation of strategic roadmaps, drive process optimisation, and develop practical solutions across business and supply chain functions.
Primary Roles And Responsibilities
Squarcle Management Responsibilities
* Encourage effective working in diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution.
Client Engagement and Relationship Management
* Build and maintain strong relationships with senior clients, acting as a trusted advisor and securing buy‑in for the case for change and the delivery approach, particularly within supply chain and operational transformation programmes.
* Understand client business objectives, challenges, and industry trends, including supply chain dynamics, logistics constraints, procurement practices, and end‑to‑end operational flows.
* Ensure high client satisfaction through effective communication and timely delivery of project milestones and deliverables, with consideration for supply chain impacts and dependencies.
Engagement Management and Execution
* As a Senior Consultant Business Analyst, contribute to engagement success by bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions, including those relating to supply chain operations and performance optimisation.
* Data Collection and Analysis: gather and analyse industry, market, and supply chain data to support business decisions, identifying trends and operational insights to drive strategic initiatives.
* Requirement Gathering: work with stakeholders across operations, logistics, procurement, and commercial teams to document business requirements and translate them into actionable plans.
* Process Documentation: document business processes and workflows, including supply chain activities such as forecasting, inventory management, fulfilment, and distribution, to identify improvement opportunities.
* Support Senior Analysts and project managers across the project lifecycle, including supply chain‑focused initiatives and operational improvement programmes.
* Communication and Collaboration: act as a liaison between business stakeholders, supply chain teams, and technical delivery teams to ensure clear requirements alignment.
* Solution Implementation: assist in implementing business and supply chain solutions such as planning tools, inventory optimisation initiatives, logistics improvements, or operational reporting.
* Reporting: create and maintain reports that track project progress, performance metrics, and other key indicators to support informed decisions.
1. Support the Engagement Manager across the consulting engagement lifecycle (planning, budgeting, mobilisation, deliverable design, content development, risk management/escalation) to ensure successful and on‑time delivery, including supply chain transformation engagements.
2. Draw on experience to contribute to project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with the client and consulting team, including the definition of supply chain or operational improvement initiatives.
3. Develop artefacts that support the presentation of solutions and plans using standard Microsoft Office applications, including analysis and visuals related to supply chain performance and processes.
4. Deliver tasks to the client and Squarcle quality assurance standards, ensuring work is consistent and of high quality.
Business Development
* Identify and pursue follow‑on work and new business opportunities in supply chain optimisation, operational improvement, and logistics transformation.
* Support the sales and bid processes assigned by the Executive Director of Growth and Head of Consulting, contributing relevant supply chain insights where applicable.
* Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and the competitive landscape, including developments in supply chain digitalisation, automation, and resilience.
Team Leadership and Mentorship
* Provide guidance for more junior consultants, mentoring those involved in supply chain or operations‑related analysis, and fostering a collaborative, supportive work environment.
* Mentor and develop consultants, supporting their professional growth and understanding of supply chain fundamentals where relevant.
* Foster knowledge sharing and best practices within the consulting team, particularly in operations and supply chain management.
Thought Leadership and Industry Expertise
* Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies relevant to the consulting domain, including supply chain innovation, advanced analytics, and operational excellence.
* Participate in professional development activities, such as attending seminars or pursuing relevant certifications (e.g., supply chain, logistics, or operations management).
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience
* Bachelor’s degree (2:1) or higher in a related subject or equivalent experience.
* Experience of working as a Business Analyst
* Well‑developed core consulting skills (research, analysis, presentation, attention to detail)
* Exceptional interpersonal skills and client service
* Aptitude to grasp new concepts and produce effective outputs
* Exceptional problem‑solving skills with a growth mindset and an analytical, innovative, and creative approach
* Good written and verbal communication skills
* Strong work ethic with ability to be self‑directed and contribute as an independent team member
* Ability to structure and manage intensive workloads
* Ability to lead teams
* Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint proficiency
* Team player committed to achieving outcomes
* Prepared to apply for and pass security clearance (SC) before appointment
Desirable
* BCS Business Analyst Qualification (Foundation or Practitioner)
* Experience in the Defence sector
* Knowledge of Microsoft Power BI and Visio
* High emotional intelligence for diverse clients and teams
* Confidence and maturity to work with senior executives
