<div><h3>Psychological Therapist – CBT / Trainee Psychological Therapist – CBT</h3><p><b>Closing date: 29 June 2026</b></p><p>York and Selby Early Intervention for Psychosis Team is recruiting a qualified Psychological Therapist in CBT (Band 7) trained to work with people with psychosis and bipolar. Qualified CBT therapists without this additional qualification may also be considered; training in CBT for psychosis will be provided, and further study towards eventual accreditation as a CBT therapist with specialist competences in psychosis and bipolar is essential.</p><p>If a qualified therapist is not available, the position will be offered as a Trainee Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (Band 6). The trainee will undertake a 2‑year post‑graduate diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Psychosis and Bipolar, after completion of which the individual will be upgraded to a Band 7 Psychological Therapist.</p><h3>Main duties</h3><ul><li>Provide one‑to‑one CBT therapy within local NHS bases and community settings for individuals aged 14 – 65 with psychosis and bipolar.</li><li>Support early detection of first episode psychosis and deliver evidence‑based interventions to facilitate recovery.</li><li>Travel within York and Selby area to meet patients, where required.</li><li>Report directly to the EIP Team Manager and be professionally accountable to the Psychological Professions Lead.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Practitioner or First Accreditation as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) registration.</li><li>Current registration with a professional regulatory body (HCPC, GMC, NMC, or Social Work England). If a different body, advice from the Chief Psychological Professions Officer is required.</li><li>For trainees: core profession recognised by BABCP; registration with a professional regulatory body; relevant core profession post‑qualifying experience or an undergraduate degree in mental health; substantial experience in multiple mental health settings; knowledge of KSA requirements for accreditation.</li></ul><h3>Experience</h3><ul><li>Delivering Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.</li><li>Responding to issues related to cultural diversity, intersectionality, and inclusivity, especially with vulnerable groups.</li><li>Working within multi‑disciplinary teams.</li><li>Assessing and managing risk of self‑harm and suicide.</li></ul><h3>Knowledge</h3><ul><li>Evidence‑based practice specific to the role.</li><li>Risk assessment and management.</li><li>Awareness of systemic barriers to access for minority communities.</li><li>Clinical governance and relevant legislation.</li></ul><h3>Disclosure and Barring Service Check</h3><p>The post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires a D‑B‑S check for any previous convictions.</p><h3>Additional information</h3><p>The role may be eligible for sponsorship under the UKVI Skilled Worker route.
