Senior Technical Support Engineer

The closing date is 02 September 2025

The Medical Device Service support users of medical equipment across all of our hospital sites within the Northern Care Alliance.

You will have a key role in supporting the departments responsibility for the maintenance, repair and sub-contractor management of Medical equipment. This will Include first line support to users of Medical equipment to Optimise systems up time to gain maximum use of Medical equipment.

Ideally, you will possess a minimum of HNC in Electronics and Clinical engineering and have extensive experience since qualifying in the field of Medical Electronics. Knowledge in the application and repair on a wide range of Medical equipment used in a hospital and community is essential although some specific training will be provided.

Consideration may be given to applicants with reduced knowledge and skills through a development pathway on a lower band with progression upon completion of the programme.

**Please note that, for this post, you will be required to have obtained a full UK Driving Licence**


Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide specialist technical knowledge for the implementation and delivery of a long-term operational plan for cost effective and efficient management and deployment of safe medical devices across the Care organisations.

They will be working towards achieving compliance levels for medical device repair and maintenance including down time and ensure that systems are available to enable clinical teams to have insight into progress with maintenance and repair of their devices.

Person Specification


Essential Qualifications

* HNC (level 4/5 BTEC) minimum in Electronics engineering


Registration

* Register for clinical technologists (RCT)


Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience

* Extensive experience in a field of medical equipment maintenance and repair
* Specialist knowledge in the application and use of a wide range of medical equipment
* Knowledge and experience of current legislation recommendations for the management of medical equipment
* Wide range of supplier approved training on the servicing and repair of Electro biomedical equipment.
* Experience of successfully working within tight time frames and to deadlines, able to demonstrate the ability to plan and work to these scales, contributing to the provision of an efficient and timely service to the trust.
* Adaptable and flexible to meet the needs of the service.
* Experience of dealing with the public.
* Experience of working within a client-driven environment
* Experience of working as part of a team and in isolation.
* Positive attitude towards change and its implementation.
* Experience of training others.
* Literate to transfer information onto a computer system and standardised departmental documents.
* Organisational skills.
* Motivational skills, both self and team.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written, as well as communications skills to liaise with all disciplines, both on the phone, in-person and in writing.
* Ability to analyse data and make appropriate recommendations.
* Experience of management of sub-contractors
* Experience of working in an engineering Quality system environment.
* Range of supplier approved training on the servicing and repair of Electro biomedical equipment used in Hospitals.

* Full/Clean UK Driving License
* Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Proven organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload with interruptions and changing priorities.
* Ability to multitask and prioritise own workload.
