Forensic Research and Risk Management: In our high-risk asset class, where credit events are common, risk evaluation is based on credit quality and recovery analysis. Therefore, thorough issuer selection through rigorous, bottom-up credit research is crucial for uncovering true value and controlling downside risks. We set the highest standard for research quality, which involves full-scale due diligence on issues/issuers that can last for weeks, leaving no stone unturned to gain valuable insights and comprehensively assess credit and recovery risks. Our analysis focuses on downside risks, identifying red flags, issues of transparency and financial quality, analysing capital structures and covenants, modelling cash waterfalls, worst-case scenarios, potential recovery, and enforcement strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
Investment Idea Generation: Screen and generate ideas within the Emerging Markets High Yield/Distressed investment universe.
Deep Due Diligence: Conduct exhaustive bottom-up credit analysis of issuers, applying forensic-level research to assess creditworthiness, financial health, and potential risks.
Financial Modelling: Develop and maintain advanced financial models to project cash flows, credit metrics, and perform scenario analyses.
Issue Documentation Analysis: Conduct covenant analysis and identify risk factors and other specifics of the issue's structure.
Recovery and Restructuring Scenario Analysis: Analyse capital structure and recovery on a going-concern basis (in-court, out-of-court restructuring) and in liquidation scenarios. Develop restructuring and enforcement strategies to maximize recovery.
Credit Reports: Write in-depth credit reports detailing the results of due diligence.
Participation in Internal Credit and Investment Committees: Present investment ideas and results of credit analysis, challenge team members' ideas, and help identify and value risks properly. Participate in decision-making on investment allocations, portfolio rebalancing, and optimization.
AHG and Steering Committees Membership: Represent the firm in Steering Committees and Ad Hoc Groups to influence the restructuring process and maximize recovery for distressed cases.
Investment Portfolio Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor changes in issuers' creditworthiness and relative value attractiveness, support portfolio and risk reporting, and provide inputs for investment product marketing materials and investors' special requests.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or a related field; a master's degree or CFA designation is a plus.
* Proven experience as a credit analyst, with a focus on emerging markets corporate high yield and distressed credit.
* Knowledge of restructuring/bankruptcy law (UK, US, EU, EM jurisdictions) is a plus.
* Experience in generating short ideas is a plus.
* Strong analytical skills, including proficiency in financial modelling and data analysis.
* Exceptional attention to detail, critical thinking, and dedication to thorough research.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Experienced Bloomberg user.
