Job Description

We are recruiting for a Senior Social Media Manager (Organic) to drive impactful, insight‑led social content and build stronger connections with our D2C audience.

The Senior Social Media Manager (Organic) will lead the strategic planning and delivery of AJ Bell’s D2C organic social media presence across key platforms including Meta, TikTok and LinkedIn. This role will define AJ Bell’s approach to social media, delivering content that is engaging, credible and compliant, and that builds long-term trust with our audience. The role will shape how our "Feel Good Investing" promise is delivered to our customers through social media and directly contribute to our brand awareness and consideration objectives.

What you’ll be doing

Strategy & Planning

1. Develop, own and evolve the social media strategy to align with our brand and business objectives.
2. Oversight of social media across the group
3. Define channel roles (e.g. education, community, advocacy) within a regulated investment environment.
4. Define how we will measure success and provide reporting to the business.
5. Work with insights/data teams to connect social performance to business KPIs
6. Drive measurable impact on brand awareness, consideration and customer engagement
7. Build and manage social media content roadmaps, developing platform-native strategies.
8. Manage the organic social media budget.

Content & Creative Oversight

9. Plan a calendar of content that delivers Feel good investing to our customers, and prospective customers.
10. Maximise existing content within the business, working with other areas to create content optimised for social platforms.
11. Champion a test-and-learn approach to formats, trends and storytelling
12. Define and evolve AJ Bell’s social tone of voice and creative identity, to ensure content is distinctive, engaging and competitive within the social landscape
13. Work closely with the acquisition marketing team to ensure our organic and paid social media strategy and execution are integrated and optimised.

Community & Engagement

14. Oversee community management with appropriate escalation processes.
15. Develop a community strategy that builds trust, advocacy and long-term engagement
16. Use social listening to inform brand, content and product teams
17. Lead social listening and trend analysis to identify audience needs and cultural moments

Risk, Compliance & Governance

18. Ensure all content is compliant with industry regulation and internal policies.
19. Balance creativity with regulatory requirements without compromising effectiveness
20. Act as a key stakeholder in risk and compliance discussions relating to social media

Team & Stakeholder Leadership

21. Act as the senior authority on social media across the business.
22. Influence senior stakeholders on the role of social in brand and commercial growth
23. Line-manage the Senior Social Media Executive
24. Agency management
25. Collaborate with Content, PR, Brand, Marketing, Website and Customer Service teams to ensure consistent messaging

What we’re looking for

26. Proven experience leading social strategy at scale
27. Strong background managing organic social within a regulated or complex environment (financial services ideal).
28. Experience managing and developing teams
29. Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
30. Deep understanding of platform behaviours (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn).
31. Creative and strategic.
32. Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
33. Experience with social analytics tools and reporting frameworks
34. Understanding of content production workflows (especially video)
35. Commercially minded with a strong understanding of brand building
36. Leverage tools and emerging technologies to scale content creation and insight generation
