M&E Designer – Design & Build Contractor
Location: Central London
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, full-time
Overview
We’re looking for an M&E Designer to join a busy design and build contractor delivering high-quality commercial fit-out and refurbishment projects across London.
This role is ideal for someone who’s technically strong, practical, and enjoys being the go-to person for M&E design tasks — supporting the wider design and project teams when workloads peak or deadlines tighten.
You’ll work alongside project managers, estimators, and external consultants, providing hands-on design input, technical drawings, and coordination support across multiple live and pre-construction schemes.
Responsibilities
* Produce and amend M&E drawings, schematics, and technical details (AutoCAD / Revit MEP).
* Support the wider team with design tasks, calculations, and coordination during busy periods.
* Check and review subcontractor and consultant drawings for accuracy and compliance.
* Assist with design documentation, specifications, and technical submissions.
* Help ensure designs remain compliant with Building Regulations and client specifications.
* Liaise with project and site teams to resolve technical queries and design coordination issues.
Requirements
* Previous experience as an M&E Designer, Building Services Engineer, or MEP Design Coordinator.
* Good understanding of mechanical and electrical building services for commercial fit-out environments.
* Proficient in AutoCAD, ideally with exposure to Revit MEP, Amtech, or Dialux.
* Solid knowledge of CIBSE standards and UK Building Regulations.
* Team player who can work independently and pick up technical tasks with minimal supervision.
* Comfortable supporting multiple projects and reacting to shifting priorities.
What’s on Offer
* Opportunity to work on varied commercial fit-out and refurbishment schemes.
* Collaborative, supportive working culture.
* Competitive salary or day rate (depending on experience).
* Central London location with exposure to fast-paced design & build projects.
If you’re a technically minded M&E Designer who enjoys getting stuck into real design work and helping teams deliver under pressure, this role offers the variety and autonomy you’re looking for.
