About The Role
We have a vacancy for a Design Manager. This role provides Urban Design support to our regional businesses to aid in land acquisitions and planning applications. The role will provide overarching guidance and support to our regional operations across Tilia Homes and Hopkins Homes.
Duties include:
* Ensure the preferred house type range and apartment designs are on trend in terms of planning and maximise customer and community engagement through thoughtful design.
* Be well versed in the impact on urban design due to NDSS, Approved Document M Cats 1, 2, and 3, as well as all other Building Regulations and Planning Requirements.
* Promote the preferred house types, communicate the value of each design, and incorporate feedback for improvement from internal functions and external customers.
* Manage site-specific variations, advising designers on potential improvements.
* Ensure urban design criteria facilitate site layout plotting best practices, including managing Plotting Books.
* Engage in the Site Layout Review process, joining the review team to critique early versions of site layout designs.
* Develop and support placemaking initiatives based on BFHL principles.
* Provide guidance on Biodiversity proposals to ensure Biodiversity Net Gain on developments where required.
* Oversee commissioning of CGI images and sales/marketing materials for house and apartment designs.
* Protect, enhance, and differentiate the brand from competitors.
* Participate in and present at internal and external conferences, functions, and workshops.
About You
We’re looking for the following skills or experience:
* Experience in the housebuilding industry.
* Qualification in Urban Design, Architectural Technology, or equivalent experience.
* Effective communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
* Strong design capabilities and ability to work within a multidisciplinary project team or independently.
* Leadership skills to guide challenging situations and deliver award-winning schemes.
* Passion for maintaining our values and vision.
* Experience with AutoCAD/Revit and similar design software.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
